Why Retrofit your Soft Story building?
On January 17,1994 6.7 Magnitude earthquake shook California. Within 20 seconds, over 8,000 people were injured and repairing the property damage cost several billion dollars. It is essential to Retrofit or Bolt your Soft Story structure to protect it from collapsing and stay safe when the next big earthquake hits our city. Los Angeles has passed a mandatory ordinance for Multi-family buildings with Soft-Story conditions to be structurally reinforced. ARM Builders Retrofit Division are here to help you.
When do I need to get this done by?
Residential Bolting: Voluntary but recommended.
Multi-family buildings:
- 2 years from the date you receive the Notice to Comply to submit Structural Plans to the city or determine that your building does not need reinforcement
- 18 months from plan submittal to pull permits
- 3 1/2 years from that point to complete construction.
